Specially planned for those who want to dedicate all or part of one special day to food and fun while visiting Italy, Carmelita will plan your itinerary and show you round Bologna or Florence, Rome or Milan, Verona or Venice. We will take in some of the best markets and food emporiums, pause for an Aperitivo at some favourite place, go wine and cheese tasting, visit kitchen supply shops, historic and new. And of course we will fit in a memorable meal at some very special place off the tourist track.

Just some ideas......
In Venice we may visit the Rialto markets and then go grazing the "Banchi" to experience "Cichetti con un'ombra di vino" (nibbles and a glass of wine) as the locals do. In Turin we might sip a classic Vermouth at an elegant Belle Époque Cafe or go to an historic coffee house for hot chocolate with whipped cream, and to buy the famous Gianduiotti chocolates. Florence has lively food markets and we can snack at centuries-old Foccacerie, choose knives at a Coltelleria or visit an artisan fresh cheese maker. Bologna's delis have spectaular displays and smell like heaven on earth. Here we could watch expert Sfogline deftly rolling and stuffing pasta by hand, and taste real Balsamic vinegar to apreciate how far removed it is

from the thin and sour commercial imitations. And in Rome, how about an early morning visit to a vibrant covered food and fish market followed by a cheese tasting at the gourmet Mecca store of the city? Or maybe you'd prefer to visit the open air stalls of Campo de Fiori market and then check out the Kosher supply stores and Trattorie of the Roman-Jewish tradition?

Prices are just indicative, as it depends on how you choose to spend your day. Bologna half day tours are Euro 100, all day 150 per person. Half days in other cities start at Euro 200 or 350 per person for a whole day. Prices do not include the price of meals and snacks taken, or for out of town travel, if any. These custom tours are for at least 2 and maximum 4 people. If travelling alone, or if visiting Torino, Pisa, Parma, Lucca or another city, get in touch and we'll see what's possible!
